Challenge:

• To develop an enterprise wide business and reference data warehouse for the purpose of generating detail and summary reports
• To source over 7 terabytes of data from the Datacom Legacy environment
• To create relational data marts using Oracle and DB2 databases

Solution:

• Designed the new relational Operational Data Store (ODS) and data marts using the Erwin COTS product
• Identified the sources of data
• Obtain data from the mainframe

Results:

• Defined the source and targeted mapping business rules to obtain the data from the mainframe
• Loaded data into the back-end systems that included: SAP R/3, SAP CRM, DB2 Data Warehouse, and EMC Documentum
• Developed an enterprise wide business and reference data warehouse that generates detailed and summary reports
